Rafa Nadal was attacked by a crazy fan at US open the past 8th September (2009). This is not the first time that a fan gives us a fright, although this guy who jumped over Rafa hadn't any intention of hurting anyone. The most well-known episode is the one on which Monica Selles was the main protagonist; she was on the court and a fan stabed her.

you are absolutely right, that was not an attack. but in USA this is considered an attack, because they are always suspicious about intentions of spontaneous men like this.
