It is with great sadnees that we had to see the passing of a young player who has not yet reached his prime. Besian Idrizaj, 22 years old, reportedly died in his sleep in his family home in Austria on Saturday.

Besian who was a lifelong Red fan came to Anfield in 2005 and stayed at our club until 2008. At six foot two and almost 83kg (13 stone), Idrizaj was a powerful striker who brought others into play well. However, he never broke into the senior side, but once scored a hattrick against wrexham in a pre-season friendly.

Idrizaj had suffered health problems in the past and collapsed on the pitch while playing for Wacker against Sturm Graz in February 2008. Idrizaj made three league appearances in the Championship and one in the Carling Cup last season. He joined Swansea in August 2009.

Idrizaj, you were a lifelong Red fan but alas your life was not long with us. You will never be forgotten and You'll Never Walk Alone! Rest in peace.

Our heartfelt condoloncesto his family and friends.
