Pepe's pride at ldsa award (#2710) on 15-09-2010 at 11:20:55
A little more than 24 hours after his world-class performance at Birmingham City, Pepe Reina was picking up yet another accolade as the Spaniard was presented with the Liverpool Disabled Supporters Association's Player of the Season award for 2009-10.
Members of the LDSA gathered in Anfield's Shankly Suite on Monday evening to pay homage to the custodian's superlative performances last term on a night to remember. Having demonstrated exactly why he is regarded as one of the best stoppers in Liverpool's history during the weekend's goalless draw at St Andrews, it was apt the association voted in their numbers for Reina to clinch the award.
And the 28-year-old was eager to show his gratitude to the LDSA members, spending well over an hour and a half ensuring everyone received a personalised signed picture and a photo.
"Is good to be rewarded with this prize and I am very, very proud. I'm really grateful to the fans for their support - and it's even more special to win this award from the members of the LDSA. It's nice to be here, speak to the fans, see the smiles on their faces and try to make them happier."
