Leicester City have completed the signing of full-back Paul Konchesky from Liverpool on a three-year contract.

The move brings to an end an unhappy year at Anfield for the defender in which he was criticised for his performances and was loaned to Nottingham Forest.

Konchesky was a signing of former Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson, who had previously worked with him at Fulham, but he did not feature in the plans of Kenny Dalglish.

Sven Goran Eriksson, though, is delighted to have signed a player who he selected for an England debut against Australia in February 2003 before picking him for the Three Lions once more for a friendly against Argentina two years later.

Having completed a medical, Konchesky is now set to join Leicester on their pre-season tour of Sweden, and Eriksson said: "Paul has been a Premier League player year in and year out throughout his career so he represents a very big signing for us.

Deal

"He wanted to come to Leicester City and it means a lot that proven, established top-flight footballers want to be part of what we are building here.

"I know Paul very well as a player and as a person and he will be a top-class addition to our squad."

Liverpool had confirmed they were set to sell Konchesky in a statement on their official website earlier on Wednesday morning.

It read: "Liverpool have today finalised a deal to sell Paul Konchesky to Leicester City.

"The 30-year-old, who played 18 games for the Reds, will now join the Championship outfit for pre-season."

Biscan

Biscan one day you're playing the Europa League final and then you have settled in the Championship.. this story saddens me a bit, not sure he deserved such ending.. he wasn't suited to the club but I guess he would do for a lower table Premiership side without going down so much. good luck to him anyway.
