Is it a disaster if we do not qualify champions league? (#4497) on 20-09-2011 at 09:22:14

Hi guys,

Just wanted to get your opinions on this, what do you think our aims should be for this season? Everyone seems to think we must qualify for the champions league for it to be deemed a success. What about if we win the FA Cup and finish 5th will the season be viewed as a failure?

What do you think?

Anything better than last season is an achievement! MU took 26 years before they won the league championship. Our turn is just around the corner...this is a season for re-building! We need more players in January!

Personally I think it will be detrimental to the club if we dont make the champions league because we could lose players and lose out on incoming quality like we did this year. However, we need to get as high as we can and in fairness at the moment top 6 is more of a target. Utd,Arsenal,Man city, Chelsea and Spurs will all strengthen in the winter window and depending where we are at that time will depend how we are shaped to attract the best players.

We should be identifying the players we need in the winter transfer window and not wait for the last moment! This could determine whether we will be in the Champions League or not!

If and it is a big If, we do buy into the January transfer window, will only enhance a top four finish of that I am confident. Watching the team/squad I am confident we are going to acheive all we are hoping for.

Well John and dibby! Talking about the January transfer window, notice that this is only coming into October and the rumours from several news sites are already speculating about who we will be buying! It's just like the transfer window has this moon-like power to change the reporters into werewolves or some news demon! lol!

But gusy there is something that frightens me at the idea if we don't get in the champions league, is like it was said earlier, that big players on our side could leave to play with teams who are qualified for the CC , an example: there have been rumours about Mourinho targeting suarez, and that scares me :) imagine suarez in the white shirt of madrid bwaaaah !
