Glen Johnson admitted he has yet to reach top form this season after marking his return from injury with a goal in the 3-0 win over West Ham
Roy Hodgson has spoken in the last few weeks about Johnson's form while maintaining the right-back has a long-term future at Liverpool.
The man himself said: "I didn't need to hear it from the boss to know that I hadn't been playing at my best, I'm an honest man and I know how well I can play, so it was nice to get a goal today.
"It's always nice to come off the treatment bench and it's obviously nice to come back with a goal. I missed the last six out of seven games, so I just wanted to get back into it."
Meanwhile, Dirk Kuyt also got his name on the scoresheet after stepping up for penalty duty in the absence of Steven Gerrard.
Kuyt said: "Normally Stevie is taking the penalties, so he gave me a little tip before the game and it helped. He said to shoot through the middle and that's what I did.
"I thought that we played well in the first half, we were right on top of them and I thought that Glen scored a great goal. From then on we kept playing football and creating chances.
"Everyone knows that we will miss Stevie very much in the next couple of weeks, hopefully he will be back as quickly as possible, but I think today we showed that we are more than a two man team."

johnwilso86 Good to see him back but he needs to get the fans more on his side by improving his form starting with Spurs on Sunday, still like to see him on right of midfield with Kelly in his position I think it could be the difference but we will never Know until it has been tried.

dibby Glenns comment about form is as obvious as a one legged man only needing one shoe. great strike from the lad though.
