Kenny Dalglish fears that Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard may miss the rest of the season after another injury set-back. The Liverpool boss was hoping that Gerrard could take part in the game against West Brom. However Gerrard had to cut the pre-match training short after feeling a sharp pain in his groin area.
Speaking to the Sun, Dalglish said: “It’s the same area but not the same injury. I don’t know when he will be back. I’ve got to look at what the damage is”.
Gerrard had an operation on the area which was giving him trouble on the 11th of March. It had caused him to miss 10 of 18 Liverpool games before then.
Dalglish continued: “It’s disappointing for Steven because he was was training really well and looking forward to being back in among the lads”.
Dalglish also has to do without Daniel Agger and Glen Johnson who were both injured in the West Brom defeat game: “It’s the same with Glen Johnson and Daniel Agger. Then we’ll be in a better position to tell you. It was innocuous as were the two lads’ injuries – both Glen and Daniel did it when they were running. Daniel’s injury we think is a tendon behind his knee and Glen looks as if he has damaged a muscle”.
The news is also bad for England as Fabio Capello was hoping Gerrard could be ready for the Euro 2012 qualification game against Switzerland on June 4th.
Gerrard looks set out for a long while
